Nomination forms and entry fees must be received by 4pm Friday 13th June for competitors to take part the next day.
The competition is a test of the dog’s jumping ability.
There are two classes: small dogs (up to 40cm at shoulder) and large dogs (over 40cm).
Dogs will be measured at the wither (between their front shoulder blades) to determine class entry.
The competition is open to dogs of any breed and sex, except female dogs that are in heat.
All dogs must be pest free.
Dangerous or menacing dogs that may pose a risk to other competitors or the general public are prohibited from entering.
Any dogs that show aggression will be immediately disqualified.
Only one dog may be loose in the marshalling area at any time.
All dogs not jumping must be on a lead, with a handler in the marshalling area, away from the jumping area.
The run up area is flat. Grass, hay or a tray back vehicle will be used as the landing platform (depending on jump height).
The dog is to jump over the walled jump and can touch any part of the jump to get over.
There must be one handler at the bottom of the jump, and a second at the top or on the other side of the jump to act as catchers. Handlers must be supplied by the dog’s owner and at least one of the handlers must be over the age of 18.
Dogs can be visually or vocally encouraged over the jump by their handlers.
A dog can compete (run and jump) on a loose lead. However, the dog cannot be assisted by their handler by pushing or pulling the lead or dog within three meters from the jump.
Any misuse or mishandling of the dog will incur immediate disqualification.
Every dog must compete at every height in their class, until only one dog remains.
Each dog is allowed a maximum of three attempts at each height. Dogs will be eliminated if they fail to clear the jump height by the third attempt.
Once the dog comes within three meters of the jump on any given turn, it will be considered an attempt at the jump.
If more than one dog has jumped the final height, the dog that took the least number of attempts from previous jumps on count back will be the winner.
Each owner must clean up after their dog and remove any excrement by disposing of it appropriately (bags and bins will be provided).
All dogs and their handlers are encouraged to take part in the grand parade after the event. However, all dogs will need to be moved off the showgrounds after this as there are no facilities or shaded areas for animals to be housed. No dogs can be left at the grounds all day.
Each competitor must complete the official nomination form confirming they agree and understand that their dog/s have entered the competition at their own risk and that the conveners and/or their representatives accept no responsibility for any risk or injury.
Insurance: The Cloncurry & District Show Society Inc accepts no responsibility. Competitors themselves must make any insurance arrangements they consider necessary.
Right of Refusal: The Cloncurry & District Show Society Inc reserves the right not to exhibit any entry.
The judges’ decisions are final and legally binding.
